I am Catherine Iannucci and I am standing as your candidate for both the Vale of Glamorgan Council and Barry Town Council.

I was born and raised in Barry and I came straight back after going to Cardiff for University. I am proud to be a Barry girl and have made my home in Cadoc. I love living here and I want to make sure that Cadoc remains a nice place to live while working to make it safer, fairer and greener.

I would bring a new perspective to the Council. I am hard working and dedicated to giving back to the place that shaped me. I love Barry and want to see it prosper.

I have worked jobs with zero-hour contracts, giving me first-hand experience of how precarious and unpredictable these roles can be. Anything that the council can do to ease residents worries would be a priority for me. I have experience of being a carer so understand the responsibility and worries that anyone who provides care, particularly unpaid care can experience. I am committed to improving social care in the Vale. I am very lucky to have a role in my current job where I can help people and I am experienced in taking on cases and campaigns for the benefit of our communities. I have previously worked with several charities and third sector organisations. These various roles have shown me the importance of community, and how powerful we can be when we are organised and work together.

I am standing to be a candidate because I am passionate about being a voice for people who need it and working towards a society that leaves nobody behind. I will always be an ally to those with different experiences to mine and want to hear from everyone about what matter to them and what changes would improve their lives. I will use my voice to amplify those who feel left behind and make sure that our part of Barry gets its fair share.

My priorities are making sure that everyone has access to reliable and regular transport services as well as making sure that these services are close to home and environmentally friendly. I will make sure that everyone in our community feels safe when they’re out and about, both with street lighting and making sure that our roads and pavements are in good shape. I will also make sure that our green spaces and play areas are well looked after, and will push for funding so that they are welcoming places for children to play.

As a councillor for Cadoc I would stand up for our community. I will champion our area. We have some great parks and community projects as well as local businesses. We must ensure businesses and community projects continue to have a place here as well as protecting existing and creating new safe spaces for families and local people.

We need to make sure that the East end thrives and that everyone knows what a wonderful place it is to live and work and that people across Barry know what it has to offer.
