Bryan Godsell
Labour County Candidate for Llantwit Major
The residents of Llantwit Major deserve a strong voice and councillors that stand up for them and our Community. As a Trade Union Full Time Officer with nearly 25 years experience with Unite the Union I have experienced first hand the importance of providing advocacy and representation in some of the largest and most important workplaces in the Vale of Glamorgan and, through that, to some of the weakest and most vulnerable in society. With your support I would bring those skills and experience to representing the people of Llantwit Major.
The current Labour led Vale of Glamorgan Council was rated the Best Performing Council in Wales. I am proud of what that Labour led council has achieved in the Vale of Glamorgan during its recent period of office. Under the 21st Century Schools initiative together with the Welsh Government it has invested heavily in the future and built brand new state of the art schools in every corner and community of the Vale. It has recognised that we have a climate emergency and has the best and most effective recycling service in any council in Wales. It is innovative and looking at how we can provide affordable quality council housing to those that now need it in the Vale and there are 6000 people needing homes in the Vale of Glamorgan.
As a resident of Llantwit Major since 1976, I am proud that Llantwit Major represents the very best of what a community can be in the current climate. It provides a cradle to grave opportunity to live and work locally in the Vale of Glamorgan. It gives our children the opportunity to fulfil their potential. It looks after the most vulnerable and hardest hit in our society.
I would regard it as a privilege to be given the opportunity to represent the residents of Llantwit Major and its surrounding communities once again as Labour Councillor on a Labour led Vale of Glamorgan Council. I had that privilege of working for you as an elected councillor for Llantwit Major alongside the amazing Lorna Hughes and Marcus Pearce between 1996 and 1999. That was an amazing experience and I would welcome the opportunity to speak up and contribute on your behalf and on behalf of our wonderful community once again.
With increasing pressure on the cost of living and our services we need Councillors and a Council that stand up to protect our essential services and support the residents of Llantwit Major and the wider Vale of Glamorgan. Please lend us your vote to allow us to work on your behalf.
