Being involved in the past in helping organise many community events and music festivals Mark is keen to get involved in more community events in Barry and the Vale. He has also helped run children’s activity areas at festivals and summer camps, including at a large festival run by the well known band The Levellers where Mark had the honour of refereeing a fun packed football match between band members and children at the festival.
Mark showed a keen interest in how things are run from an early age gaining A Levels in Economics and Goverment & Politics. He believes in social justice, human rights, equal rights and environmental issues. He is a member of the Barry Citizen Science Project running with the guidance of experts from Cardiff University showing a keen interest in monitoring air quality & pollution in the town.
Having to grow up in a strong Conservative region Mark has always been appalled by their lack of interested in helping the more vulnerable and less priviledged in our society. Watching Conservative local government have a complete lack of interest in social housing and allowing huge building projects that fell well short of affordable housing requirements. The last 12 years of national Conservative Government has shown their shocking attitude towards struggling poorer families and the disabled people of our country. As someone who comes from a low income background and has 2 disabled children Mark is used to the difficulties often faced in dealing with the DWP on various issues. He is extremely happy to be an active part of Welsh Labour, a party that is running Welsh Government in the best interest of all of society, including the vulnerable and those in need, and honoured to be selected as a candidate running for Welsh Labour in Barry Town and The Vale Of Glamorgan. He will be proud to represent the people of Castleland Ward and be commited to do the best job he can for each and every resident and the community as a whole.
